What is Love?

Maybe you have seen this. I just watched it for the first time and think it’s so beautiful.

I think Love and gratitude are very similar. I don’t know. I just think Love makes it all worthwhile. No matter how busy or tough our lives may be, there just has to be someone we can give some love to right now.

I just had to post this. I hope you enjoy it.

How do you define Love?

Developing Faith in God

‘Belief’ is an idea that has not been thoroughly tested. Faith is the knowing gained from experience. Once a belief has been tested we can say we ‘know’ something. True faith is beyond the reach of doubts.

My life has shown me that I really don’t know much. The more I tried to figure things out, the more insane this world seemed. War and suffering, materialism, greed; for what purpose do we exist?

At some point I was forced to look inside. My journey was not easy, but I knew I needed help. Like the prodigal son we all must return to our Father’s Kingdom sooner or later. Once we make the choice and begin the journey, God will come to us and celebrate with us. I think this happens in stages, and as our attunement deepens with the divine will, our inner-peace and joy deepen too.

God wants us to be happy and will guide us to greater happiness if we allow it. Listening is needed, but whatever we think we are receiving remains a belief until we have tested it.

The toughest times, are when we can’t see where our next step should land, but have to step anyway. These are great opportunities for growth because they inspire us to dig deeper inside for divine help.

All we can do is try our best. A child who refuses to listen to their parent feels distant from them. We are the same. To know God we must listen and do God’s will to the best of our ability. Like a loving mother God is not worried about a perfect outcome as much as our sincere attempt to do what is right.

I believe this is our greatest triumph.

“Pleasing God”

This is the very end of a Sunday Service talk I gave in February. It’s just a few minutes and you miss the background, but I hope it still makes the point.

I see life as a park or playground, where I am a young child, who has learned to rely on my loving mom to guide me. She is God. I have learned that to please Her keeps me out of trouble. She always knows better than me, and tries to teach me to become more free in myself. I believe this is how God trains us.  But we must concentrate and listen to receive Guidance. Mom is more than a teacher, She loves us with her whole being, we are a part of her. She will never turn away from us.

Deep meditation is not something we can do alone, it is a dialog between the child and God, or the little self and higher Self. We must not let our meditation practice become an empty ritual. Instead of meditating with expectations or wants. We can meditate to return the love we have received. Call out from your heart with humility, love, and greatitude. Then listen.

God is always here, but speaks very softly.
